Section 706-1-1.0 - General1.1 Purpose. To establish the minimum life safety requirements for Intermediate Care Facilities for the Intellectually Disabled (ICFID).1.2 Scope. This Regulation addresses the criteria for utilizing one- and two-family dwellings, either newly constructed or renovated, as an ICFID.1.3 Application. The application of this Regulation pertains to those facilities that desire to utilize a type of residential occupancy similar to, if not actually, a one- and two-family dwelling, including new construction and/or conversion of existing dwellings. These occupancies shall be reviewed and approved under the New Residential Board and Care occupancy Chapter of the Life Safety Code, NFPA 101, as adopted and/or modified by these Regulations, and shall include the additional fire protection features required by this Chapter. Note: For purposes of clarification, these occupancies will NOT be considered Limited Care Facilities as found under the New Health Care occupancy Chapter of the Life Safety Code, NFPA 101, except when the issue of "self preservation" can not be affirmatively demonstrated. |
