(a)Safety Protection Required.Each owner, lessee, employer or contractor responsible for the operation of a crane subject to the requirements of Sections 29-223-6a to 29-223-11a, inclusive, shall ensure that such crane is operated in accordance with the provisions of Sections 29-223a-6 a to 29-223-11a, inclusive.
(b)General Requirements of Competency. The installation and maintenance of any device required by Sections 29-223a-6 a to 29-223-11a, inclusive, shall be performed by a person experienced in the operation, maintenance and repair of cranes, as defined in Section 29-221 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
(c)Condition of Equipment and Safeguards.(1) No owner, lessee, employer or contractor shall require or permit an employee to operate any crane in violation of the provisions of Sections 29-223a-6 a to 29-223-11a, inclusive.(2) All cranes shall be operated in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements for safe lifting and the specific requirements of Sections 29-223-6a to 29-223-11a, inclusive.(3) The safety of any modification affecting the structural stability of a crane shall be certified by the manufacturer or a licensed professional engineer.
