Section 14-137-63 - Evidence of full legal name(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), the commissioner shall presume that the name of the applicant as shown on the applicant's official, unexpired passport or birth certificate, submitted as evidence of the applicant's identity, is the full legal name of the applicant, and the commissioner shall not place any other name on a motor vehicle operator's license, commercial driver's license, or identity card, unless the applicant presents an order of the superior court, or other court of competent jurisdiction, pertaining to a change of the applicant's name.(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a), the commissioner may accept an original or certified copy of a marriage license, certificate of dissolution of marriage, or certificate of civil union or dissolution of civil union for the purpose of establishing the applicant's full legal name to be placed on an operator's license, commercial driver's license, or identity card issued to the applicant.Conn.
