Section 76.01 - Purpose and Authority(1) The purpose of 310 CMR 76.00 is to protect public health, safety, welfare and the environment by implementing the Mercury Management Act (Chapter 190 of the Acts of 2006). These regulations prohibit the disposal of mercury-added products in any manner other than by recycling, disposing as hazardous waste in accordance with M.G.L. c. 21C and 310 CMR 30.000, or using an alternative method approved by the Department.(2)310 CMR 76.00 is promulgated pursuant to the authority of M.G.L. c. 21C,§§ 4 and 6, M.G.L. c. 21H,§§ 6I, 6L and 6N.
