The Department shall maintain MAVEN to: receive reports of disease events; collect clinical, demographic and epidemiologic data; conduct surveillance (also known as monitoring) for diseases; conduct investigations; respond to and control diseases dangerous to the public health. Local boards of health shall have MAVEN access for these purposes according to their jurisdiction. Where necessary for the investigation, monitoring, control or prevention of diseases dangerous to the public health, the Department may designate other individuals as able to access MAVEN. Access so designated by the Department shall be strictly limited to such necessity.
