Section 120.563 - Safety Precautions for Patients or Human Research Subjects Receiving Brachytherapy(A) For each patient or human research subject receiving brachytherapy and cannot be released in accordance with 105 CMR 120.540, a licensee shall: (1) Not place the patient or human research subject in the same room as an individual who is not receiving brachytherapy; and(2) Visibly post the patient's or human research subject's door with a "Radioactive Materials" sign and note on the door or the patient's or human research subject's chart where and how long visitors may stay in the patient's or human research subject's room.(B) A licensee shall have emergency response equipment available near each treatment room to respond to a source that inadvertently becomes: (1) Dislodged from the patient; or(2) Lodged within the patient following removal of the source applicators.(C) The Radiation Safety Officer, or his or her designee, and the authorized user shall be notified immediately if the hospitalized patient or human research subject dies or has a medical emergency.Amended by Mass Register Issue 1480, eff. 10/14/2022.
