Section 79647 - Pharmaceutical Service-General Requirements(a) Arrangements shall be made with pharmacists licensed by the California State Board of Pharmacy to assure that pharmaceutical services are available to provide patients with prescribed drugs and biologicals.(b) Dispensing, labeling, storage, and disposal of drugs and biologicals shall be in conformance with state and federal laws.(c) If a pharmacy is located on the correctional treatment center premises, the pharmacy shall have a limited permit or license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacies located on the licensed premises of the facility shall be opened for inspection upon the request of an authorized Department representative.(d) The facility shall not accept money, goods, or services free, or below cost from any pharmacist or pharmacy as compensation or inducement for referral of business to any pharmacy.(e) Written policies and procedures shall be developed for establishment of safe and effective systems for procurement, storage, distribution, dispensing, and use of drugs and chemicals. The pharmacist in consultation with other appropriate health professionals and administration shall be responsible for the development and implementation of procedures. Policies shall be approved by the governing body. Procedures shall be approved by the administration and medical staff.(f) There shall be a system maintained whereby no person other than a pharmacist or a legally qualified individual under the immediate supervision of a pharmacist shall dispense medications.Cal.
