Section 3560 - Global Positioning System Program Establishment

Departmental use of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology is designed to monitor the whereabouts of persons on parole by use of continuous electronic monitoring. The GPS program is for supervised persons who are identified as requiring a high level of supervision, as described in section 3561. By placing a GPS monitoring device on a supervised person, a Parole Agent receives information about a supervised person's whereabouts, verifies the supervised person's compliance with parole conditions, and is able to investigate suspicious behavior patterns.

1. New article 4 (sections 3560-3565) and section filed 2-16-2010 as an emergency; operative 2-16-2010 (Register 2010, No. 8). Pursuant to Penal Code section 5058.3(c), a Certificate of Compliance must be transmitted to OAL by 7-26-2010 or emergency language will be repealed by operation of law on the following day.

5. Amendment refiled 5-23-2017 as an emergency; operative 5-23-2017 (Register 2017, No. 21). Pursuant to Penal Code section 5058.3, a Certificate of Compliance must be transmitted to OAL by 8-21-2017 or emergency language will be repealed by operation of law on the following day.
6. Certificate of Compliance as to 5-23-2017 order transmitted to OAL 8-15-2017 and filed 9/25/2017 (Register 2017, No. 39).
7. Change without regulatory effect amending section filed 7-1-2024 pursuant to section 100, title 1, California Code of Regulations (Register 2024, No. 27).
