Section 13172 - Violation of Permits

Violation of a permit, which includes any term, condition, or provision of a permit and which includes both actions in violation of a permit and failure to act as required by a permit, is grounds for enforcement under this Section and under Chapter 9 of the California Coastal Act of 1976. Whenever the executive director of the commission determines that a violation of a permit has occurred or is threatened, the executive director may refer the matter to the Attorney General for appropriate action. Where such a violation has occurred or is threatened, the Attorney General may file an action in the name of the commission for equitable relief to enjoin such violation of, or for, civil penalties, or both, or may take other appropriate action pursuant to Chapter 9 of the California Coastal Act of 1976.
