IN THE MATTER OF R.R., A JUVENILE
On Appeal from the County Court At Law No. 1 Kaufman County, Texas Trial Court Cause No. 22J-084
ORDER
ROBERT D. BURNS, III CHIEF JUSTICE
Appellant's brief in this juvenile case is overdue. By postcard dated January 4, 2024, the Court notified counsel appellant's brief was overdue and directed him to file the brief within ten days. To date, counsel has not filed appellant's brief nor otherwise corresponded with the Court concerning the status of appellant's brief.
So that this appeal can proceed, we ORDER counsel to file appellant's brief and an extension motion that complies with Texas Rule of Appellate Procedure 10.1(a) within TEN DAYS of the date of this order. If counsel fails to do so, we will order the trial court to conduct a hearing to determine why appellant's brief has not been filed and if appointment of new counsel is necessary to ensure appellant receives effective representation. See TEX. R. APP. P. 38.8(2).
