IN THE INTEREST OF A.S. M, A CHILD
Appeal from the 65 District Court of El Paso County, Texas (2004CM737) ORDER
Appellee seeks a fourth extension of time to file her brief, after this Court indicated in its previous order that no further extensions would be granted. To justify this extraordinary relief, Appellee generically states: "Counsel, as a sole practitioner, has had an extraordinary heavy schedule and due to COVID-19 pandemic her office had been focused in the past week to handling essential jail cases first." In ordinary circumstances, this Court would have likely denied the motion with leave to file an amended motion that might set forth specific and detailed reasons for seeking a fourth extension. But these are not ordinary circumstances. As the Office of Court Administration's public notices indicate, the appellate courts are presently laboring under a ransomware attack that have impaired our primary case database. For this reason, and this reason alone, the Court grants the motion and extends the time for Appellee's brief until June 28, 2020. By that date, the Court expects to be fully operational and expects that Appellee's brief will be filed. NO FURTHER MOTIONS FOR EXTENSION OF TIME TO FILE THE APPELLANT'S BRIEF WILL BE CONSIDERED BY THIS COURT.
It is further ordered that the Hon. Veronica Teresa Lerma, the Appellee's attorney, prepare the Appellee's Brief and forward the same to this Court on or before June 28, 2020.
IT IS SO ORDERED this 29 day of May, 2020.
