CERTIFICATION OF REPRESENTATIVES
October 27, 1939
On September 27, 1939, the National Labor Relations Board,
herein called the Board, issued a Decision and Direction of Election
in the above-entitled proceeding.,, The Direction of Election di-
rected that an election by secret ballot be conducted among the pro-
duction and maintenance employees of Gross Galesburg Co.,
Galesburg, Illinois, who were employed during the pay-roll period
last preceding the date of the Direction of Election, including the
porter and the machinists, other than the head machinist, any em-
ployees who did not work during that period because they were ill
or on vacation, and any who were then or have since been tempo-
rarily laid off, but excluding foreladies, supervisors, and superin-
tendents, office employees, salesmen, watchmen, and the head
machinist, and any employees who have since quit or have been
discharged for cause, to determine whether they desire, to be repre-
sented by Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, by United
Garment Workers of America, Local 243, affiliated with the Amer-
ican Federation of Labor, or by neither, for the purpose of collective
bargaining.
Pursuant to the Direction of Election, an election by secret ballot
was conducted on October 11, 1939, under the direction and super-
vision of the Regional Director for the Thirteenth Region (Chicago,
Illinois). On October 13, 1939, the Regional Director, acting pur-
suant to Article III, Section 9, of National Labor Relations Board
Rules and Regulations-Series 2, issued and duly served upon the
parties an Election Report.

No objections to the conduct of the ballot or to the Election Report
have been filed by any of the parties.
By virtue of and pursuant to the power vested in the National
Labor Relations Board by Section 9 (c) of the National Labor Rela-
tions Act, 49 Stat. 449, and pursuant to Article III, Sections 8 and 9,
of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 2,
IT-IS HEREBY CERTIFIED that United Garment Workers of America,
Local 243, affiliated with the American Federation of Labor, has
been designated and selected by a majority of the production and
maintenance employees of Gross Galesburg Co., including the porter
and machinists, other than the head machinist, but excluding fore-
ladies, supervisors, and superintendents, office employees, salesmen,
watchmen, and the head machinist, as their representative for pur-
poses of collective bargaining, and pursuant to' Section 9 (a) of the
Act, United Garment Workers of America, Local 243, affiliated with
the American Federation of Labor, is the exclusive representative
of all such employees for the purpose of collective bargaining in
respect to rates of pay, wages, hours of employment, and other
conditions of employment.
