Section 1257 - Duties

The Expert Tree Crops Advisor so appointed shall have the power and shall perform the following duties:

(1) To ascertain in what locality and which type of nut trees and other trees bearing crops, except our present commercial fruit trees, can be successfully propagated and grown in this Commonwealth;
(2) To visit each year all the leading experimenters in the State conducting private experiments and procure the results of their experiments;
(3) To assimilate all information received from such private experimenters and all literature or information received from any research, experimental and educational programs conducted in other states and disseminate all such information available to the general public, after first having made permanent records thereof and filed same with the Department of Agriculture;
(4) To conduct a research program for the furnishing, procuring and planting of native nut trees and other trees bearing crops, excepting our present commercial fruit trees, and the possibilities of growing same for food, feed and commercial purposes;
(5) To render general assistance and aid to various independent nut and tree crop growers who are conducting private experiments and research so that the results gained therefrom may be made available to the general public and to the Department of Agriculture;
(6) To systematically record the results gleaned from such research, experimental and educational programs so conducted, whether privately or not, and make such records easily accessible for dissemination; and
(7) To do and perform any and all duties and acts to effectuate the purposes and aims of this act.
