When either branch of the legislature shall have made choice of a speaker, the oaths or affirmations prescribed in the constitution of this commonwealth, and the Constitution of the United States, shall be administered to the speaker elect, by a member appointed for that purpose by a majority of the members present, and the speaker so sworn or affirmed shall administer the oaths of affirmations to the members elect and officers respectively.
