Section 3107.04 - Filing petition - caption(A) A petition for adoption shall be filed in the court in the county in which the person to be adopted was born, or in which, at the time of filing the petition, the petitioner or the person to be adopted or parent of the person to be adopted resides, or in which the petitioner is stationed in military service, or in which the agency having the permanent custody of the person to be adopted is located.(B) If the court finds in the interest of justice that the case should be heard in another forum, the court may stay the proceedings or dismiss the petition in whole or in part on any conditions that are just, or certify the case to another court.(C) The caption of a petition for adoption shall be styled, "in the matter of adoption of __________________". The person to be adopted shall be designated in the caption under the name by which he is to be known if the petition is granted.Effective Date: 1/1/1977 .
