Section 388.1694 - Advanced placement and international baccalaureate programs; college-level examination program (CLEP); requirements(1) From the general fund money appropriated in section 11, there is allocated to the department for 2024-2025 an amount not to exceed $1,200,000.00 for efforts to increase the number of pupils who participate and succeed in advanced placement and international baccalaureate programs, and to support the college-level examination program (CLEP).(2) From the funds allocated under this section, the department shall award funds to cover all or part of the costs of advanced placement test fees or international baccalaureate test fees and international baccalaureate registration fees for low-income pupils who take an advanced placement or an international baccalaureate test and CLEP fees for low-income pupils who take a CLEP test.(3) The department shall only award funds under this section if the department determines that all of the following criteria are met: (a) Each pupil for whom payment is made meets eligibility requirements of the federal advanced placement test fee program under the no child left behind act of 2001, Public Law 107-110, or the every student succeeds act, Public Law 114-95, as applicable.(b) The tests are administered by the college board, the international baccalaureate organization, or another test provider approved by the department.(c) The pupil for whom payment is made pays at least $5.00 toward the cost of each test for which payment is made.(4) If funds remain after the awards granted in subsection (2), the department shall award funds to reimburse a portion of the costs associated with the provision of advanced placement (AP), international baccalaureate (IB), or college-level examination program (CLEP) exams for students whose family income exceeds low-income status as determined by the department.(5) The department shall establish procedures for awarding funds under this section.(6) Notwithstanding section 17b, the department shall make payments under this section on a schedule determined by the department.Amended by 2024, Act 120,s 93, eff. 10/1/2024.Amended by 2023, Act 103,s 130, eff. 10/1/2023.Amended by 2022, Act 144,s 99, eff. 10/1/2022.Amended by 2021, Act 48,s 87, eff. 7/13/2021.Amended by 2020, Act 165,s 71, eff. 10/1/2020.Amended by 2019, Act 58,s 70, eff. 10/1/2019.Amended by 2018, Act 265,s 69, eff. 6/28/2018.Amended by 2017, Act 108,s 69, eff. 10/1/2017.Amended by 2016, Act 249,s 70, eff. 10/1/2016.Amended by 2015, Act 85,s 61, eff. 10/1/2015.Amended by 2014, Act 196,s 60, eff. 10/1/2014.Added by 2014, Act 116,s 14, eff. 4/11/2014.Former section 388.1694 was repealed by 2003, Act 158, eff. 10/1/2003.
