§ 254. Hydrographic Watershed Fund—Projects under provisions of federal laws

The Secretary of Agriculture may use said Hydrographic Watershed Fund to pay for any cost or investment, compensation, services or expenses in connection with any project to be built in Puerto Rico under the provisions of the Law of the Congress of the United States of America - Public Law No. 566, approved August 4, 1954, known as the “Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act”, as amended (68 Stat. 666) - or under the provisions of any commonwealth law. Such payments may include the acquisition of rights of way and lands, compensation for destruction or damages to structures and plantations, to contribute with the Government of the United States toward the corresponding construction costs, payments for measurements and legal services, payments to farmers for the carrying out of the erosion control practices required for the stabilization of critical areas, and any incidental payments or expenses necessary for the construction of any such projects.
