§ 944. License—Application

(a) Application and license fee.— Applications for a license shall be filed, under oath, with the Commissioner of Financial Institutions of Puerto Rico. Such application shall state the street address where the main office of the business will be located, as well as any such information as the Commissioner may require, including a personal identification of each applicant, so as to provide the grounds for the investigations provided in § 945 of this title.

When submitting the application, the applicant shall pay $1,500.00 to the Commissioner on account of investigation charges and $1,500.00 for the annual license, provided in § 946 of this title, for the current calendar year. Such payment shall be made by certified check drawn to the order of the Secretary of the Treasury. If the license is issued after June 30 of any year, the annual fee shall be $750.00 for that year.

(b) Resident agent.— Every concessionaire shall keep filed with the Commissioner an appointment in writing of a resident in Puerto Rico as his agent, for the service on him of any judicial or other process or legal notice, unless the concessionaire has appointed another agent for these purposes under another law of Puerto Rico.
