§ 65. Incorporated institutions—Bound service

Any corporation specified in § 61 of this title may bind out any indigent or pauper child as a clerk, apprentice or servant, for a period of time which shall not exceed the age of eighteen (18) years, provided that the girl or boy shall have been absolutely surrendered to the care and custody of such corporation pursuant to the provisions of § 61 of this title, or which shall have been placed therein as a pauper pursuant to the provisions of § 63 of this title, or which shall have been left to the care of such corporation with no provisions by the parent, relative or legal guardian of such child for its support for the period of one (1) year immediately preceding the date the writ was drawn. When the person subject to said custody has attained the age of eighteen (18) years, he shall be free to choose between leaving the aforementioned institution or, through agreement with the institution, remain therein until he has attained the age of twenty-one (21) years.
