Section 18-1357 - COMPENSATING PUBLIC SERVANT FOR ASSISTING PRIVATE INTERESTS IN RELATION TO MATTERS BEFORE HIM(1) Receiving compensation. A public servant commits a misdemeanor if he solicits, accepts or agrees to accept compensation for advice or other assistance in preparing or promoting a bill, contract, claim, or other transaction or proposal as to which he knows that he has or is likely to have an official discretion to exercise.(2) Paying compensation. A person commits a misdemeanor if he pays or offers or agrees to pay compensation to a public servant with knowledge that acceptance by the public servant is unlawful.[18-1357, added 1972, ch. 381, sec. 20, p. 1102.]
