Section 45-21-15 - Prior service certificate(a) Upon verification of the statement of service submitted, the retirement board shall issue to the member a prior service certificate certifying to the aggregate length of prior service as an employee. So long as membership continues, a prior service certificate is final and conclusive for retirement purposes as to that service, unless modified by the retirement board upon application made by the member within one year after date of issuance or modification of the prior service certificate or upon discovery by the retirement board of an error or fraud.(b) When membership ceases, the certificate is void.(c) Should membership be resumed by the employee, the employee will enter the system as an employee not entitled to prior service credit.R.I.
