Section 33-5-23 - Muffling devices and sirens(a) The exhaust of every internal combustion engine used on any vessel shall be effectively muffled by equipment so constructed and used as to muffle the noise of the exhaust in a reasonable manner. The use of cutouts is prohibited, except for vessels competing in a regatta or official boat race event that is permitted by the Marine Patrol Division.(b) No person shall use or have on board his or her vessel a siren of any type while operating on the waters of this state except as may be specifically allowed by the secretary for enforcement purposes.(c) A violation of this section is a boating violation.Ala.
