Rule RCr 2.12 - Warrant or summons; return(1) The officer executing a warrant shall make return thereof to the court to which it was made returnable within a reasonable time of its execution. The executing officer shall deliver the warrant with the return endorsed thereon, together with a copy of the complaint pursuant to which the warrant was issued, to the court to which the warrant was made returnable. (2) The officer serving a summons shall make return thereof to the court to which it was made returnable on or before the day named therein for the appearance of the defendant. The return may be made by mail. If the summons was not served on the defendant personally, the return shall show the name of the person to whom the summons was delivered, the date and hour of service, and the address at which the summons was left.
