In the event an attorney fails to comply with the provisions of Iowa Court Rule 41.4 or files a report showing on its face failure to complete the required number of accredited hours of continuing legal education, the commission must notify the attorney in writing of such apparent noncompliance and the attorney will have 15 days from the mailing of the notice to cure the failure to comply or make an appropriate application under rule 42.5. If the failure to comply is not cured or such application is not approved, the commission must report promptly to the supreme court the failure of the attorney to comply with chapter 41 of the Iowa Court Rules.
