If the facility to which the respondent is delivered pursuant to Iowa Code section 229.22 lacks a chief medical officer, the person then in charge of the facility shall, if treatment appears necessary to protect the respondent, immediately notify a physician. The person in charge of the facility shall then immediately notify the magistrate.
