Rule 12.17 - Respondent's rights explained before hearing

The respondent's rights as set out in rule 12.3(3) and the possible consequences of the procedures shall be explained to the respondent by the respondent's attorney to the extent possible. Prior to the commencement of the hearing under Iowa Code section 229.12, the judge or referee shall ascertain whether the respondent has been so informed.
