Rule 511 - Magistrates - No Jury Trial(a) No Jury Trial. There is no right to a trial by jury in small claims court proceedings. (b) Magistrates. Magistrates may hear and decide claims and shall have the same powers as a judge, except as provided by C.R.M. 5. A party objecting to a magistrate pursuant to Section 13-6-405(4), C.R.S., shall file the objection seven days prior to the first scheduled trial date. Cases in which an objection to a magistrate has been timely filed shall be heard and decided by a judge pursuant to the rules and procedures of the small claims court. Colo. R. Sm. Clm. Ct. P. 511
