Section 24:28:15:09 - Requirements to obtain a standard administrator certificate with a superintendent endorsement

To obtain a standard administrator certificate with a superintendent endorsement, an individual with a superintendent administrator alternative certificate shall:

(1) Complete a minimum of 21 transcripted credits from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education with a grade of C or higher in the following areas:
i. Leadership and district culture;
ii. Organizational management;
iii. Values and ethics of leadership;
iv. Educational policy and law;
v. Communication;
vi. Community relations;
vii. Curriculum planning and development;
viii. School finance;
ix. Instructional management; and
x. Three-hour approved South Dakota Indian studies course;
(2) Pass the state-designated pedagogy test;
(3) Pass the state-designated content test; and
(4) Receive signoff from the applicants employing public or Department-accredited school.
