Section 505.7 - Requests for records and personal information(a) All requests for personal information shall be made in writing.(b) A request shall reasonably describe the records and personal information sought. Whenever possible the data subject should supply identifying information that assists the authority in locating the records or personal information sought.(c) Within five business days of the receipt of a request, the authority shall provide access to the record or personal information, deny access in writing explaining the reasons therefor or acknowledge the receipt of the request in writing, stating the approximate date when the request will be granted or denied.(d) Upon a data subject's voluntary request the authority shall permit a person of the data subject's choosing to accompany the data subject when reviewing and obtaining a copy of a record or personal information, provided that the authority may require the data subject to furnish a written statement authorizing discussion of the record or personal information in the accompanying person's presence.N.Y.
