Section 598.162 - Failure to appear

If a respondent who has been served with a proper notice of a hearing fails to appear at the hearing, and a continuance of the hearing has not been requested and granted:

1. The failure to appear by the respondent may be entered in the record;
2. Evidence may be heard and considered; and
3. The matter may be considered and disposed of on the basis of the evidence before the hearing officer in the manner required by this section or a default judgment may be entered against the respondent without further notice.
