Section 441A.Sec. 5.1 - NEW

The health authority shall investigate each report of a case having babesiosis, as identified by finding the infectious agent in a clinical specimen through testing by a medical laboratory, to:

1. Confirm the diagnosis;
2. Determine the extent of any outbreak;
3. Identify the source of the infection; and
4. Determine the necessity of initiating measures to control vectors.
