La. Admin. Code tit. 55 § XVII-503

Current through Register Vol. 50, No. 9, September 20, 2024
Section XVII-503 - [Effective 10/29/2024] Resignations
A. Notification by Warrant. Draw one line through the employee's name and write the resignation date beside the name or under the Social Security number. See "Sample Warrant" (§2013).
B. Notification by Letter. The letter should state the employee's name, Social Security number, and the resignation date. If applicable, the Civil Service Personnel Action form should be attached to the letter.
C. Definition

Resignation Date-the last day that the police department pays the employee. For example, Ted Ticketwriter turned in his two-week notice on March 6 and took some paid leave he was entitled to for the remaining two weeks of his employment. His resignation was effective on March 20; he received his final regular paycheck on March 23. The correct resignation date as far as supplemental pay is concerned is March 20 because that is the last day that the employee was paid by the municipality.
