Section VII-101 - Statutory Authority

A. State Statutes. The Office of Prevention and Recovery from Alcohol and Drug Abuse (OPRADA) was created by Act 899 of the 1984 Regular Legislative Session.

B. Federal Statutes OPRADA is the designated single state agency and single state authority for management of National Institute on Drug Abuse and National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism grants and contracts for alcohol and drug abuse prevention treatment and rehabilitation services within the State of Louisiana. These funding sources comprise the Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Alcoholism grants and contracts for alcohol and drug abuse prevention, treatment and rehabilitation services within the State of Louisiana. These funding sources comprise the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) block grant. An annual application shall be promulgated which describes how the ADAMHS block grant shall be expended.
