Rule 199-45.6 - Lab-certified equipment

An interconnection request may be eligible for expedited interconnection review under rule 199-45.8 (476), 199-45.9 (476), or 199-45.10(476) (as described in rule 199-45.7 (476)) if the distributed generation facility uses interconnection equipment that is lab-certified.

(1) Interconnection equipment shall be deemed to be lab-certified if:
a. The interconnection equipment has been successfully tested in accordance with IEEE Standard 1547.1 (as appropriate for lab testing) or complies with UL Standard 1741, as demonstrated by any NRTL recognized by OSHA to test and certify interconnection equipment; and
b. The interconnection equipment has been labeled and is publicly listed by the NRTL at the time of the interconnection application; and
c. The applicant's proposed use of the interconnection equipment falls within the use or uses for which the interconnection equipment was labeled and listed by the NRTL; and
d. The generator, other electric sources, and interface components being utilized are compatible with the interconnection equipment and are consistent with the testing and listing specified by the NRTL for this type of interconnection equipment.
(2) Lab-certified interconnection equipment shall not require further design testing or production testing, as specified by IEEE Standard 1547, Section 11, or additional interconnection equipment modification to meet the requirements for expedited review; however, the applicant shall conduct all commissioning tests or periodic testing as specified by IEEE Standard 1547, Section 11. The utility may conduct additional witness tests, but no more frequently than annually.
