Rule 199-42.14 - Protection of signal systems

Prior to penetrating the surface of any railroad right-of-way, the public utility shall contact the railroad to determine if any of the railroad's signal systems are located in the area. If signal systems are located in the area, the public utility, at its expense, shall arrange for a cable locator and make arrangements for relocation or other protection of the signal system. The public utility shall also contact Iowa One-Call for locating other underground facilities and shall comply with all other applicable statutes, regulations, and rules pertaining to such underground facilities.
