Sec. 7.
(a) The guardian shall apply on behalf of the child for any medical insurance or assistance for which the child is eligible under IC 12-15-2-14, IC 12-17.6-3, or any other applicable law that provides financial assistance for medical or health care expenses.(b) If the child is not eligible for medical insurance or assistance provided through the Indiana Medicaid program or the children's health insurance program (CHIP), the guardian shall obtain private health insurance coverage for the child that provides benefits substantially equivalent to the benefits that would be provided under IC 12-17.6-4-2 if the child were eligible for coverage under IC 12-17.6-3.(c) Medical insurance coverage must be in effect at the time of approval of the guardianship assistance agreement. The guardian shall provide to the county office satisfactory evidence that the required coverage is in effect.(d) The guardian must maintain medical insurance coverage for the child, in the manner provided in this section, as a condition to continued eligibility for monthly assistance payments under this rule.
