Sec. 1.
(a) This section governs grouting materials and the installation of grouting materials for new wells.(b) Grouting materials shall consist of: (1) neat cement with no more than five percent (5%) by weight of bentonite additive;(2) bentonite slurry (which can include polymers designed to retard swelling);(3) pelletized, granular, medium grade, or coarse grade crushed bentonite; or(4) other materials approved by the commission.(c) This section applies if neat cement or a bentonite slurry is used for grouting. The cement or slurry shall be pumped into place from the bottom of the annular space upward in a continuous operation with a grout pipe or the well casing using the positive displacement method.(d) Grouting material, other than neat cement or bentonite slurry, shall be introduced in a manner to prevent bridging of the annulus between the outside of the well casing and the borehole.(e) A borehole annulus shall be grouted upon the earlier of the following: (1) Within twenty-four (24) hours after the installation of the well casing.(2) Before drilling equipment is removed from the site.(f) This section does not apply to a public water supply well.
