Section 19-126-6 - Accident location procedure

The investigating police officers at the scene of the accident shall measure and record the location of the accident. On public highways which have reference markers, the location shall be measured to the nearest reference marker on the highway on which the accident occurred. The direction and distance in feet or tenths of a mile from the reference marker to the accident location shall be recorded. On other public streets and highways, the same procedure shall be followed except that the location shall be measured to the nearest street intersecting the street or highway upon which the accident occurred. Whenever the accident occurs within one hundred feet of an intersection, the names of all of the intersecting streets shall be listed.
