Section 19-13-D74 - Administration of medicines(a) Orders for the administration of medications shall be in writing, signed by the patient's physician or dentist, and in compliance with the agency's written policy and procedure.(1) Medications shall be administered only as ordered by the patient's physician or dentist and in compliance with the laws of the State of Connecticut;(2) Orders shall include at least the name of medication, dosage, frequency and method of administration.(3) All medications shall be administered only by registered nurses or licensed practical nurses licensed in accordance with Chapter 378 of the Connecticut General Statutes or other health care practitioners licensed in this state with statutory authority to administer medications.(b) Agency staff shall regularly monitor all prescribed and over-the-counter medicines a patient is taking and shall promptly report any problems to the patient's physician or dentist.Conn.
