Section 300.173 - Reporting of Certain Negative and Indeterminant Diagnostic Tests Associated with Ascertainment of Infection Status

All laboratories performing examinations on any specimens derived from Massachusetts residents shall report directly to the Department through secure electronic laboratory mechanisms, or other method, as defined by the Department, within 24 hours, negative results of the following specific laboratory tests:

(1) Any test for syphilis associated with a concurrent positive serologic test;
(2) Hepatitis C serologic and nucleic acid amplification tests;
(3) Any negative or indeterminate diagnostic test result for HIV infection associated with a concurrent positive test;
(4) Any tests that are part of a panel of diagnostic tests for vector-borne infections that are associated with a concurrent positive result of one or more tests in the panel;
(5) Any tests that are part of a panel of diagnostic tests for viral hepatitis infections that are associated with a concurrent positive result of one or more tests in the panel;
(6) Any negative diagnostic test result for SARS-CoV-2; and
(7) Any other negative or indeterminate test as determined by the Department, when necessary for the investigation, monitoring, control and prevention of diseases dangerous to the public health.
