Section 130.1700 - Definitions Applicable to Healthcare-associated Infection Data Collection, Submission and ReportingThe following definitions apply to 105 CMR 130.1701:
Healthcare-associated Infection (HAI). A localized or systemic condition that results from an adverse reaction to the presence of an infectious agent or its toxins that:
(1) occurs in a patient in a hospital;(2) was not present or incubating at the time of the admission during which the reaction occurs;(3) meets the criteria for a specific site infection as defined by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in its National Healthcare Safety Network; and(4) any additional elements as set forth in administrative guidelines of the Department based on the National Healthcare Safety Network. National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). The HAI tracking system operated by the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
