Section 19073 - Verification of Voter Identity(a) Pursuant to the Help America Vote Act of 2002, each voter's identity shall be verified.(b) If an affidavit of registration contains a California driver license or state identification number, the statewide voter registration system shall compare this number with DMV records. A verified California driver license or state identification number shall constitute verification of the voter's identity.(c) If an affidavit of registration contains only the last four (4) digits of a social security number, and no California driver license or state identification number, the statewide voter registration system shall compare the last four (4) digits of the voter's social security number, the voter's first and last name, and the voter's date of birth with DMV records. A verified social security number shall constitute verification of the voter's identity.(d) If a California driver license or state identification number or the last four (4) digits of the social security number provided by a registrant on an affidavit of registration cannot be verified by the statewide voter registration system, the registrant may be subject to the identification requirements of Section 19075, unless, for example, the statewide voter registration system or the county EMS is able to verify the registrant's identity.Cal.
