The following language is effective October 1, 2024:
(a) When a state officer or employee is granted sick leave while away from their headquarters for purposes of state business, the appointing authority may approve such officer or employee to claim reimbursement for actual travel expenses not to exceed the maximums prescribed by these regulations during such sick leave, for a period not to exceed three days. This time limitation may be exceeded in unusual cases approved by the appointing power, when either the employee is unable to travel, or when it is more economical for the state to maintain the employee on sick leave and travel status in order to complete the assignment.(b) When a state officer or employee is authorized time off for vacation or CTO while away from their headquarters on state business, reimbursement for travel expenses during such vacation or CTO shall not be paid.(c) The appointing power may make exceptions for employees on long-term assignments for long-term lodging expenses only that are incurred at the long-term location and will continue during the employee's absence.Cal.
