Section 1460 - Qualifications for Certification(a) Initial certification. (1) An applicant for certification to practice midwifery must meet the following conditions: (A) Be licensed as a registered nurse under the Nursing Practice Act, Business and Professions Code, Section 2700, et seq., and(B) Be a graduate of a Board approved program in nurse-midwifery.(2) Equivalency. A registered nurse applicant not meeting the above requirements shall be eligible for certification, providing one of the following conditions exists: (A) A graduate of a nurse-midwifery program not meeting Board of Registered Nursing standards who shows evidence satisfactory to the Board that deficiencies have been corrected in a Board approved nurse-midwifery program, or have been corrected through successful completion of specific courses which have been approved by the Board.(B) Certification as a nurse-midwife by a national or state organization whose standards are satisfactory to the Board.Cal.
