Section 770-X-10-.17-7-.01 - General(1) Every motor carrier shall systematically inspect and maintain, or cause to be systematically maintained, all motor vehicles subject to its control, and the accessories required hereby to be mounted thereon, to insure that such motor vehicles and accessories are in safe and proper operating condition. A systematic inspection and maintenance record shall be maintained for each motor vehicle controlled by a motor carrier for a period during which such vehicle is subject to the motor carrier's control; provided, however, that such records need not be retained for more than three (3) years from the time they were required to be made. Such record shall include, at least: (a) An identification of the vehicle including make, model, serial number and number of tires and their size;(b) A record of inspection and repairs indicating their date and nature;(c) A lubrication record;(d) A systematic means of indicating for each vehicle the nature and due date of the various inspection and maintenance operations to be performed;(e) If leased, or otherwise contracted for, such records shall also include an identification of the lessor or contractor furnishing the motor vehicle.Ala.
