On April 3, 2009, Northeast Hydrodevelopment, LLC filed an application, pursuant to section 4(f) of the Federal Power Act, proposing to study the feasibility of the Pittsfield Mill Dam Hydroelectric Project, to be located on the Suncook River, in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.

The proposed Pittsfield Dam Project would be located along the Suncook River channel below the existing outlet works at an existing dam owned by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. The existing dam, which impounds the Suncook River is 470 feet long and 21 feet high and includes a 159-foot-long spillway with two 7.5-foot-high by 6-foot-wide outlet gates and two 4.5-foot-wide by 9.5-foot-high stop log bays. The impoundment encompasses about 20 surface acres.

The proposed project would consist of: (1) A newly constructed powerhouse below the existing outlet works; (2) two submersible or tubular-type turbine-generators with a total hydraulic capacity of 423 cubic feet per second and a total installed generating capacity of 0.530 megawatts; (3) a newly excavated 100-foot-long tailrace; (4) an approximately 200-foot-long transmission line; (5) appurtenant facilities. The Pittsfield Mill Dam Project would have an estimated average annual generation of between 2,120 megawatts-hours, which would be sold to Public Service of New Hampshire.
