Section 683.1 - Costs of prosecution and investigationA. Whenever the district attorney of the parish of original jurisdiction and venue is recused or requests another district attorney or the attorney general to undertake a prosecution or an investigation reasonably related to a possible prosecution and such other district attorney or the attorney general actually undertakes same, the costs of such prosecution and investigation shall be borne by the parish of original jurisdiction and venue, which shall reimburse such other district attorney or the attorney general therefor.B. For the purposes of this Article, "costs of prosecution and investigation" include not only unreimbursed court costs but also the actual costs of travel, including mileage or transportation costs, lodging, and meals, all in accord with the travel regulations of the Division of Administration; the actual costs of experts and expert witnesses, their actual costs of travel, including mileage or transportation costs, lodging, and meals; laboratory fees, and all other actual costs of performing the prosecution and investigation.
