Section 5953 - Discrimination prohibited(a) For purposes of this section: (1) "Housing status" means as defined in section 204 of Title 19.(2) "Protective hairstyle" includes braids, locks, and twists.(3) "Race" includes traits historically associated with race, including hair texture and a protective hairstyle.(b) A person may not be appointed or promoted to, or demoted or dismissed from, any position in the classified service, or be in any way favored or discriminated against with respect to employment in the classified service, because of political or religious opinions or affiliations, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, race, or housing status.Amended by Laws 2023, ch. 429,s 12, eff. 9/26/2024.Amended by Laws 2021 , ch. 13, s 23, eff. 4/13/2021.Amended by Laws 2013 , ch. 47, s 25, eff. 6/19/2013.29 Del.
