Section 16-1-2.2 - New construction at public two-year and four-year institutions of higher education to include approved safe space or hallway(a) Commencing on August 1, 2012, any new contract awarded for the construction of a new building, containing classrooms or dorm rooms, on the grounds of a public two-year or four-year institution of higher education shall include a Division of Construction Management approved safe space or hallway rated for tornadoes.(b) The State Department of Postsecondary Education and the separate boards of trustees of the four-year institutions of higher education in the state shall coordinate with the Division of Construction Management to develop, adopt, and enforce any rules necessary for the implementation of this section.Ala.
