Rule 6.181 - USE OF CELL PHONES AND OTHER DATA OR COMMUNICATION DEVICES - JURY(1) In addition to the requirements of SLR 3.181 and 3.182, unless otherwise permitted by the judge presiding over the trial, personal data or communication devices (any electronic or other equipment capable of communicating with others outside a jury room, including, but not limited to personal computing devices, cell phones, tablets, smart watches, and pagers) are not allowed to be in the possession of jurors in a courtroom or a jury room during jury selection, trial or jury deliberations.(2) If a juror brings any such device into court, the juror will either be allowed to leave and secure the item and then return through security, or the device will be collected by the court clerk or court security officer.Amended effective 2/1/2024.
